Istanbul and the glory that was (and is) Constantinople            home  ]

Four days in the ancient capital of capitals. Hagia Sophia. Blue Mosque. Topkapi Palace. The Golden Horn. Basilica Cistern. Archaelogical Museum. The Hippodrome. Istiklal Cadessi. The Grand Bazaar, rooftop breakfasts overlooking the Bosphorus... We couldn't do everything, but the city left a sweet taste in my mouth. Reminded me of San Francisco, with the water 'round every point, the mild skies, the cool nights and warm days, the street life, and the lowrise beauty of the architecture. Onur, my "online" friend met us each night and was a consummate guide and pal. He's the best part of Istanbul, for me. :-) June 1-4, 2005
